I've formed a guild with some friends, and we've played for about a week now, but I've found that every time a quest gives you an item you need to return to someone or carry somewhere, only one person, the person with the item, gets credit for the quest.

The other guys are grouped with me when we get the quest (e.g. census of fallen), we all have the quest, they're grouped with me when we complete quest - but only I get exp and reward.

Regarding "census..." and "vanguard equipment" we had do to those quests _one time per person in the team_.

Doing a quest like Vanguard Equipment four times in a row just so everyone will get to finish the quest is damn annoying. And boring.

Not to mention that three times the census dropped assigned to a player who'd already completed, so we had to wait until it became public property.

I've soloed my way through the game before - is questing really supposed to work this way, or are these quests bugged?
If they're supposed to work this way, would it not be better if one quest item dropped per player?

Doesn't seem right. Havn't noticed that myself.

Also FYI if the person who the item is assigned to picks it up and then drops it anyone can pick it up.

Also, not cerrtain, but make sure everyone talks to the reward giver after the quest has been done, not just the guy carrying the stuff. That might be it, but I dunno.

On our infusion run we had to kill the guy several times because only the person carrying the essence was getting infused. Wasn't that big of a deal since we didn't have to restart the mission.

Now I KNOW that quest isn't bugged since I just completed it. Seriously, after the guy carrying the crap gives to the the reward giver EVERYONE who needs to reward talk to the reward giver.

No, that's not it, we all talked to the quest-givers both before and after.
The same thing (only carrier got reward) happened with the ambassador from kryta quests (carrying stuff back & forth), but since that's just outside Ascalon it wasn't a big problem. For longer quests it's a damn nuisance though.

Hopefully it's just a glitch with the early quests around Ascalon?

I would hope so. Like I said before I know the Infuse quest isn't that way. But its been a while since Ascalon.

If you are still grouped when the item is turned in, you all get credit if that is where you are in the quest log.

OK, so everyone in the group, not just the carrier, are supposed to get rewarded. Then those quests were bugged or we ran into some weird glitch. That's good to know, because we'd have had difficulties keeping up questing if this was going to happen every. fricking. quest. when there's quest items.

I've had that happen on occasion, too. I'm wondering if you need to be nearby the quest item when it drops for the flag to be set... Rest assured, most quests if everyone has the quest in their log and everyone talks to the patron at the end, they should all get the benefits.

my guess is that you are grouping to do the quest and then mapping back to the location and leaving the group....once you have left the group you forfeit credit for the XP...only the carrier will recieve XP at this point. You need to stay grouped together.

That means that for many quests (e.g. Altheas Ashes) there'll be like a 15 minute jog back after completion.

Does the game lose track of who's done what if we go into a town on the way back too, or does this only happen when you warp?

only when you warp...when you map-warp you leave the group and forfeit the current quest. you need to run back

umm...I believe there are bugs in some quests. When my boyfriend and I did the one quest out of fishermen's haven, he was assigned the papers, but when he picked them up my star stayed on where the papers would be and there was not any papers there. So we traveled allll the way back to see if I would still get credit, no map warping, and I did not get ANY credit for the quest.

Some quests that had items would work, but sometimes, the only person who gets credit is the one that carries it..

Don't think this is right.

Only time you forfeit a quest or mission is if you leave before the mission or quest has been completed.

With the Altheas Ashes Quest, I have noticed that more than one ashes is given to more than one player, but not always all the players involved, which could be as one of the posters above points out. You might need to be in the area of the ashes pedestal to set the Flag to make sure you get the XP when you talk to Barradin after..
Just make sure you get your ashes from those players and click the Ashes Pedestal before warping back.
You can then Warp back using the Map without the run.

I think this is a bug with the Althea Ashes quest, as we all have the Urn, but it doesn't change to the Ashes like it used to in the BEta Game.

With the Census Quest, it might be if you don't click the Chest where the Census comes from could be why you're not getting the XP for that quest. Or, it could well be a bug again and more than one census should drop if there is more than one player with that quest at that time each getting there own item.

Personally, I think that is what should happen with the Ashes quest. They drop as quest items saved for the individual players on that quest so that one player can't run off with all the ashes and sell them on. This would actually solve that problem of Ashes Scams etc.

i had problems in the fisherman's haven quest also. 4 person group went to do the quest and only 1 person got it complete. very annoying.

the royal papers quest from fisherman's haven is like this. we were all like WTF? i'll probably end up doing the quest with henchies now.

Ok, this quest I KNOW you did incorrectly.

Once the person who is assigned the essence touches the Seer, then everyone else has to click on the Seer to talk to him.

Infusion is not automatic, but you do have to talk to the guy AFTER the essence is returned to him.

I know this because I screwed up my first two infusion runs (2 chars) when someone else got the drop and I just assumed that I was infused. AFTER the essence was returned to the Seer the dialogue changed when I talked to him and voila, my armor now said "infused."
